Market Talk

529 CLUB and Aristodikos Cultural Section of the Saronikos Municipality are proud to present a GREEK CULTURAL TALKS:
The Saronida weekly open-air market takes place every Monday, to be found at the corner of Kefallinias Street and Saronida Avenue.
A guided tour (lasting around one hour) will be given by Saronida local resident, Anastasia Ioannidis, who will give a short history of the origin and development of such markets in Greece and how they have changed over the years.
Visitors will find seasonal, locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, honey from a local beekeeper, many varieties of olives, pulses, and dry fruits and nuts. Inexpensive clothes as well as household items are also on sale.
Meet at 12 noon at the Saronida Traditional Restaurant at Kefallinias 5 (which will follow on from the Saronida Market visit).
Anastasia will give a short talk on the history of tavernas and restaurants in Greece and the mother of the owner will demonstrate how to make some traditional Greek dishes, including zucchini croquettes, green salad with honey dressing, yoghurt and cucumber dip (tzatziki).
